2011 Mackey Vineyards Syrah

Great aromatic and palate complexity combined with a slightly firm structure and a long silky finish. The complex bouquet offers meaty, wild game notes with black olive, black pepper, sage, blueberry, blackberry, and minerals. Silky tannins and refreshing acidity envelop flavors of smoked meats, bacon fat, blueberry, blackberry, sage, espresso, and vanilla. The elegantly long finish echoes tones of black pepper, sage, and earth. Properly cellared, this wine of finesse and elegance will gain considerable complexity and should hit maturity in 6-8 years and provide excellent drinking for 12-15 years.

  2011 Mackey Vineyards Concordia

Winemaker Tasting Notes – Seductive, complex bouquet of grilled meats, kirsch, white pepper, blackberries, earth, herbes de provence, violet, and vanilla. On the palate the wine is exquisitely balanced and nuanced: blackberry, kirsch, huckleberry, sage, thyme, white pepper, black truffle, earth, mineral, and smoked meats. The vibrant mouthfeel and slightly firm yet refined tannins suggest great aging potential. The very long finish has notes kirsch, earth, and white pepper. This will pair exceptionally well with venison and lamb dishes. Properly cellared, the wine should hit maturity in 6-8 years and provide excellent drinking for approximately 15 years.

  2010 Mackey Vineyards Right Bank

Winemaker Tasting Notes - This wine is the epitome of grace and elegance, showing an almost ethereal lightness for a blend of merlot and cabernet franc.  Perfumed aromatics of plum, redcurrant, cassis, tangerine peel, and violets.  Subtle earthy, mineral tones counterbalance notes of red plum, red currant, violets, and lavender on the palate.  Cashmere tannins, crisp acidity, and gentle French oak tones lead into a decadent, silky finish with notes of aged cigar tobacco and cocoa.  This wine will likely gain in complexity over the next 5-7 years and should drink well for the next 12-15 years.
